FAQ

What can I do with AsoTheory?

Track your own apps and any competitor's across the App Store and Google Play, research and score keywords, review your screenshot carousel, and generate a Theo AI growth report, all from public store data, no account credentials required.

Do I need to connect my App Store Connect account?

No. AsoTheory reads only public App Store and Google Play data: Apple's iTunes Lookup and Search APIs, the public product page, and Play's public store pages. No API key, no OAuth, no App Store Connect access. Add an app by name or URL and tracking starts immediately.

Can I use AsoTheory from Claude, Cursor or another AI assistant?

Yes. Standard includes a read-only MCP server, so any MCP-compatible AI assistant can query keyword difficulty, tracked listings, review verdicts and growth-plan reasoning directly, scoped to your own account, never another customer's.

How many apps and keywords can I track?

Free tracks 1 app with 5 keywords. Standard tracks 10 apps with up to 200 keywords each and unlimited keyword research.

How often is the data refreshed?

Once a day, automatically, for every tracked app on both plans. Ranks, ratings, listing changes and reviews are all swept in the same daily collection pass.

Which countries and storefronts are covered?

All 24 App Store storefronts, from the US and UK to Japan, Brazil and India, plus Google Play, each tracked independently, never mixed together.

Can I research and track my competitors?

Yes. Track any competitor's App Store or Google Play listing the same way you track your own, and compare keyword difficulty, review sentiment and growth signals side by side.

Is there a free version I can try first?

Yes. The Free plan tracks 1 app and 5 keywords, and includes one Theo AI report and 10 keyword research results, with no credit card, no time limit.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, cancel anytime from account settings, with no lock-in. Standard also opens with a seven-day trial before the first charge.

What is App Store optimization?

The practice of improving how an app is found and chosen in the App Store or Google Play: the title, subtitle and keywords you're indexed for, plus the ratings, screenshots and description that turn a search result into an install.

How long does ASO take to show results?

Usually weeks, not days. A metadata change only affects new searches going forward, and it takes time for ranks to settle and for enough traffic to accumulate to tell a real shift from noise.

Do I need a tool to do ASO?

No. You can search the store by hand and track a spreadsheet yourself. A tool just does the comparison and the daily re-checking automatically, which is the part that's tedious to keep up with manually.

Is ASO the same as SEO?

Related, not the same. Both are about ranking in a search result, but app stores index a handful of short fields rather than a full page, ignore backlinks entirely, and weigh ratings and conversion rate into ranking in a way the open web doesn't.

Start with the demo. It's real data.

Instagram, Duolingo, BitePal and Calm already tracked on both stores across six storefronts, with live keyword ranks and a working change timeline. No signup, no card.
