Idea Finder and Pre-Launch research
Two tools for before you have decided what to build, and before you have a listing at all.
Idea Finder
Every other page in this product assumes you own an app. Idea Finder assumes you do not, and are trying to decide what to build. It looks for places where the store’s own users are asking for something and getting a weak answer, from two measured signals: how many distinct ways people phrase the same need, and how weak the field currently answering it is. Many phrasings plus a weak field is the condition worth building into; either alone is not interesting on its own.
There is deliberately no demand number, revenue figure or trend arrow attached, because none of those are observable from public store data, and inventing one here would contradict how every other score in this product is built.
Pre-Launch research
Rank tracking, the change timeline and the revenue model all assume a live listing. Pre-Launch is for the app that does not have one yet: pick a competitor as the seed, and its metadata generates the same candidate keyword universe your own listing would have produced.
Each candidate is scored on reachability: whether apps your size — including zero ratings — already hold positions for that term. If an app with four ratings holds position eight, size is demonstrably not the barrier there, whether or not you have shipped anything yet.
